Background:
Andres Serafini’s path to becoming a top real estate leader is a remarkable journey shaped by ambition, hard work, and adaptability. Born to immigrant parents—his mother from Colombia and father from Italy—Andres grew up in Washington, D.C., in a family that valued education and service. His father, an electronic engineer and U.S. diplomat, and his mother, who worked for the Federal Reserve, instilled in him the importance of pursuing excellence.

Initially, Andres seemed destined for a career in politics. He pursued a political science degree while playing Division 1 soccer. After graduating, he worked for the Organization of American States (OAS) as a liaison to U.S. Congress, bridging communication between foreign governments and the U.S. While the work was fulfilling, Andres always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive for business.

Inspired by a college professor who advised him to “sell big” and focus on necessities like shelter, Andres pursued a real estate license while still working at OAS. In 2008, when the housing market crashed, Andres saw an opportunity. He dove into the world of distressed properties, showing homes in the early mornings and evenings, all while maintaining his full-time job during the day. This demanding schedule pushed him to eventually make a leap into real estate full-time.

Professional Achievements:
Andres’ hard work and strategic thinking have led to consistent growth. In 2023, he closed 120 transactions with a total sales volume of $108 million. For 2024, Andres projects even higher numbers: 125 transactions and $120 million in sales volume. His ability to build relationships with developers and luxury buyers, combined with his knack for spotting investment opportunities, has made him a powerhouse in the D.C. metro area.

Andres credits his entry into the luxury market to a pivotal conversation with a builder. “I asked what I needed to do to win his business. He said, ‘Bring me a buyer or my next project.’” Andres’ keen understanding of investment properties led him to bring both, helping his clients build wealth and solidifying his own place in the high-end market.

In 2015, he founded The Washingtonian Group, a real estate team that has become a household name in the region. Despite the challenges of building a team, Andres’ leadership has ensured its growth and success year after year.

Reasons for Joining ROA:
Andres’s decision to join Realty of America wasn’t made lightly. After working with other independent brokerages, including Long & Foster and Real Living, where he helped grow the team from two offices to 500 agents, Andres was looking for something more. While Andres was initially uncertain about leaving a well-established role in a successful brokerage, conversations with ROA’s founders, Mark and Eddie, and later with Peter Nobel, helped him see the potential for building a company that prioritizes ownership and long-term wealth for its agents.

Andres found ROA’s vision appealing because it wasn’t just about transactions—it was about creating opportunities for others. “I wanted to build something bigger than myself, something that could outlast me,” he says.

Accolades and Recognitions:
Throughout his career, Andres has earned numerous accolades, including:

Community Involvement:
Community service has always been central to Andres’ life and career. His team participates in several charitable initiatives, including an annual turkey drive, K.I.N.D. Food Delivery, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and Casa Chirilagua Toy Distribution. “Our business is built on community,” Andres explains. “Giving back is just the right thing to do.”

One of his favorite initiatives is K.I.N.D., which provides monthly food deliveries to children in need, ensuring they have meals over the weekend. “In affluent areas like Montgomery County, poverty often goes unnoticed,” Andres says, “but programs like K.I.N.D. make a real difference in people’s lives.” Andres is also deeply involved in Alzheimer’s awareness and fundraising efforts, a cause close to his heart due to personal connections.
